Trekking Map

Trekking Karte Annapurna

This trek combines four of the most beautiful and lesser-known viewpoints in the fascinating Annapurna region. Our companions will be Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna II (7,937m), Annapurna IV (7,525m), Fishtail (6,997m), Annapurna South (7,219m), and many other extraordinary mountains of breathtaking beauty.

From the peaks of Khopra Danda you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the imposing Dhaulagiri massif (8,167m), one of the highest mountains in the world, which will leave you in awe of the mighty nature.
From Mardi Himal, the sacred peaks of Machapuchare (6,996m) stretch majestically into the sky as you are surrounded by this sublime landscape. Also enjoy the sublime panoramic views of Mohore Danda and Muldai Peak, where the boundaries between heaven and earth seem to blur and you experience the untouched beauty of nature in its purest form. On the way you will hike through many charming Himalayan mountain villages and rhododendron jungles with many rivers waterfalls and hanging bridges.

This beginner trekking tour is ideal for those who want to immerse themselves in the world and culture of Himalayan mountain treks. There should be a certain level of fitness.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1.355m), introduction, equipment check, welcome dinner
Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m). You will be picked up at the airport and driven to your hotel. In the afternoon we will discuss the trip with you, and in the evening you are invited to a welcome dinner. Overnight stay at the Hotel Kathmandu Guesthouse or in accommodation of the same category, (D).

Day 2: Sightseeing in Kathmandu and preparing for the tour
Today we explore Kathmandu with a local guide. The most popular places and attractions include the Pashupatinath Temple complex – one of the most important Hindu temples (the main temple is only open to Hindus) – the Buddhist-Hindu temple mount Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, and the Buddhist Boudhanath Stupa. We return to the hotel in the late afternoon to pack for the next morning’s tour. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight stay at the Hotel Kathmandu Guest House or in accommodation of the same category (B).

Day 3: Flight to Pokhara approx. 40 minutes and drive to Hille (1,430m) – Trek to Banthanti (2,210m) – 2 hour drive and 4 hour hike
Early in the morning we drive to the airport for the flight to Pokhara and then continue the drive to Hille, the starting point of our trek. The climb begins gently, surrounded by streams, waterfalls, tropical vegetation and green fields that make the landscape lush and picturesque. We cross a suspension bridge at Tikedhunga and hike up a steep, step path for about three hours until we reach Banthanti. From here, if the sky is clear, there is an impressive view of the top of Machpuchare (6,996m). Overnight stay in the teahouse lodge (B|L|D).

Day 4: Trek Banthati to Mohare Danda (3,300m) – approx. 5 hours hike
After early breakfast, we start our trek towards Mohare Danda, through dense forests, with a break at Taplang, which offers fantastic views of Machapuchare, Annapurna and Hianchuli. The path leads steadily uphill, with the views of the mountains becoming increasingly majestic. Arriving at Mohare Danda rewards us with breathtaking views of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri. From the lodge we can also witness a spectacular sunset, which will be an unforgettable experience. Overnight stay in a teahouse lodge (B|L|D).

Day 5: Trek Mohare Danda to Swanta 2,200 m – 5 hours trek
If the weather cooperates, we will get up early to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view at sunrise. We are rewarded with impressive views of Machhapuchhre (6,993m), Dhaulagiri (8,167), Annapurna (8,091m), Nilgiri (7,061m) and many other peaks. After witnessing a beautiful sunrise, we start our trek with a 1.5 hour descent followed by an easy trail to Fulbari and another descent to Chitre. After lunch we descend steeply to the river where good surefootedness will be necessary. Afterwards you climb for around 30 minutes to reach Swanta. Once there, we have the opportunity to explore the village, visit a nearby waterfall and visit the beehives. It’s the perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy the local surroundings. The view of the massive Dhaulagiri Mountains from here is simply gigantic. Overnight stay at Tea House Lodge, (B|L|D).

Day 6: Trek Swata to Chistibung (3,000m) – 5 hours hike
The trek from Swanta to Chistibung takes about 3 to 4 hours. The path leads steadily uphill through forests, crosses suspension bridges and passes small settlements. As you climb, the landscape opens up to meadows with mountain views. Today’s hike offers a beautiful mix of nature and varied landscape. Overnight stay at Tea House Lodge, (B|L|D).

Day 7: Trek Chistibung (3,000m) – Khopra ridge (3,660m), 3 hours hike
Today’s section of the trail leads along a grassy slope where, as we pass the pastures, we can see some alpine huts and encounter grazing Dzos (a cross between a cow and a yak). Look for the colorful Danphe pheasant, Nepal’s national bird, and the Himalayan tahr (a goat-like even-toed ungulate) on the grassy ridge high above the trail. The full panorama only unfolds when we reach our accommodation for today: Mount Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Nilgiri (7,061m) and the Annapurna South Face (7,219m) are all visible. After lunch, it’s worth taking a short hike down to Khopra Ridge and a viewpoint. From there we can look over the Kali Gandaki River and see Pokhara far down in the valley. We can also watch a magnificent sunset from our lodge. Overnight stay at Tea House Lodge, (B|L|D).

Day 8: Sunrise at Khopra ridge (3,660m) and trek to Dobato (3,420m) – 7 hours hike
Today we get up early to admire the mountain panorama again at sunrise. From here, the Dhaulagiri massif seems within reach. After breakfast we start our descent for today’s hike. The path winds through alpine meadows and forests where we can observe wild animals. After some ascents and descents we reach Dobato, from where we will climb Muldai Peak tomorrow. Overnight stay at Tea House Lodge, (B|L|D).

Day 9: Climb to Muldai Peak (3,637m) and trek to Ghandruk (2,012m) – 6 hours hike
Today we get up about an hour before sunrise and set off on the 50-minute climb to Muldai Peak. From the viewpoint we can admire more than 25 peaks including Annapurna Range, Dhaulagiri Range, Nilgiri, Lamjung Himal Range, Machapuchare and many other impressive mountain peaks. If the weather is clear, we even have the opportunity to see the Pokhara Valley and Phewa Lake from the summit. After sunrise and breakfast, we continue our trek towards Ghandruk. The day becomes more relaxing as we return through the oak and rhododendron forests. This area is particularly beautiful and the hike is often accompanied by birdsong and the sound of small waterfalls, especially in spring and autumn. Ghandruk is a mountain village mainly inhabited by the Gurung ethnic caste. This village is famous for the Ghurka soldiers employed by the British and Indian armies and still retains the traditional architecture of its houses with stone-covered roofs. From here there are breathtaking views of the Annapurna South (7,219m), Hiunchuli (6,441m) and Machapuchare (6,993m) mountain ranges. Overnight stay at Tea House Lodge, (B|L|D).

Day 10: Trek Ghandruk to Forest Camp (2,600 m) – approx. 6 hours hike
This is considered the most challenging day of the hike, characterized by steep climbs and descents with numerous stone steps. However, the hike from Ghandruk to Landruk is scenic, takes around 2 to 3 hours. The trail descends steeply to the Modi Khola River, crosses a suspension bridge, and then climbs gently towards Landruk, a peaceful Gurung village with beautiful views of the Annapurna Mountains. From Landruk the path leads through dense forests, with occasional rest stops allowing views of the surrounding mountains. The strenuous climb is balanced out by the beautiful nature, making this day a worthwhile but challenging stage. Located at around 2,600 meters altitude, Forest Camp is a quiet and peaceful place surrounded by lush greenery. Overnight stay at the Tea House Lodge (B|L|D).

Day 11: Trek Forest Camp to High Camp (3,580m) – 5 hours hike
The path leads uphill through dense rhododendron and oak forests. As we reach the higher elevations, the tall trees become fewer, giving us breathtaking views of the mountain peaks. At 3,580 meters, High Camp offers breathtaking views of the majestic Machapuchare at 6,993 meters, arguably the most elegant mountain in this region. The view from the hut of the Annapurna south face and the Hiunchuli is impressive. Overnight stay at Tea House Lodge, (B|L|D).

Day 12: Day trip to Mardi Himal viewpoint (4,200 m) – and back to Rest Camp (3,150 m) – 7 hours hike
After a very early light breakfast we hike up the ridge to the Mardi Himal viewpoint at 4,200m. The moderately sloped grass path has some steeper, exposed sections but is generally not too challenging. In summer, the sheep and goats from the lower villages are driven to the higher grassy areas to graze. This means that you will come across many cattle huts along the way. After three hours we should reach the upper viewpoint at 4,200 meters, where we look out over the huge Annapurna massif and enjoy spectacular panoramic views of its south face and its many peaks, as well as the Hiunchuli and the Machapuchare (Fish Tail), which is considered particularly sacred can. Overnight stay at Tea House Lodge, (B|L|D).

Day 13: Trek Rest Camp to Kalimati and drive to Pokhara – 6 hours hike and about 2 hours drive
We are coming to the end of our varied hike. We enjoy breakfast one last time in a mountain hut and get ready for the final descent. The hike today will take around 5 to 6 hours and takes us downhill through a lush forest to the charming village of Kalimati (1,700 m). After lunch we will drive to Pokhara by vehicle. Overnight stay at Tea House Lodge, (B|L).

Day 14: Free day in Pokhara
The enchanting Pokhara Valley with its many lakes and fantastic views of the wide and mighty Annapurna massif in the background is the ideal place to end a trekking tour. Also known as Lakeside, the tourist area is located next to Phewa Lake, which is famous for boating and ideal for relaxing. Pokhara has an excellent location for activities such as trekking in the Annapurna region, rafting, paragliding, bird watching, microlight flights and mountain biking. Pokhara includes the three lakes Phewa, Bagnas and Rupa, the Mountain Museum, the Barahi Temple, Mahendra Gupha, Devin’s Waterfall, Peace Pogoda and the old Pokhara Bazaar with some attractions. The locals in this region are mainly from the Gurung and Magar people. Overnight stay at Mt. Kailash Resort or similar category, (B).

The fees can also be paid in euros, which are converted by the bank at the airport in accordance with the dollar exchange rate. Two passport size photographs must be provided for the visa. Insurance
Travel health insurance (with recovery costs) is essential for your own safety and a precondition for participation in our trips. In the event of an accident in the mountains which requires a helicopter rescue, the helicopter will not take off before the responsibility for the cost is clarified.
The conclusion of travel cancellation insurance is highly recommended. In the case of bargain price flights in particular, changes or cancellations generally can’t be made free of charge. In Nepal complications with the weather or with your health could make it necessary to break off your journey.
We have requested ERGO (Reiseversicherung) to create various service packages for you. You can book travel health insurance at https://www.reiseversicherung.de.

Customers can book their travel insurance via ERV or another provider at their own discretion.

The hotels and lodges booked by us
In Kathmandu and Pokhara the hotels we book are good and correspond to medium-level Western standards. Sanitary facilities are clean and functional; the hotel cuisine is adapted to Western eating habits and the food is safe to enjoy. There may sometimes be power cuts, or no hot water may be available for a while. The hotel staff is generally very friendly and looks after the welfare of guests. The hotels booked by us are as follows:

Kathmandu: Kathmandu Guest House, Hotel Tibet,Manaslu ***+
Pokhara: Mount Kailash Resort, Lake side retreat ***

During the trek and in the interior of the country conditions are very varied, and travelers must sometimes expect basic sanitation facilities. For standard treks and tours you will stay overnight in typical “lodges” (teahouses). These usually offer very small single rooms or double rooms (some with no running water and no private shower / toilet).

In general, during the trekking tour you can select what you wish to eat from the menu. However, at altitudes of 4,000 meters it can happen that on some routes the choice of food is not very extensive. Typical Nepalese cuisine is mostly vegetarian, but very tasty, filling and wholesome. Travelers need to be adaptable, however.

Flying in Nepal
The domestic flights booked by us are with Tara Air, Yeti Air or Budha.

Tour program
The travel program for all of our recommended tours is carefully planned. It can happen, however, that roads are closed without advance notice or are impassable, that there are waiting times of several hours because of traffic congestion or fuel shortages and that specific tourist attractions are closed for various reasons. Other restrictions such as flight delays or even cancellations due to bad weather, strikes, the health of participants or unfavorable conditions while trekking may also make the implementation of the travel program more difficult or at worst make it impossible. However, our local guides are prepared for such situations and will make every effort to achieve every aspect of the program to your satisfaction. As a result the inconvenience can normally be kept to a reasonable level. Nevertheless, it must be pointed out at this juncture that for the above reasons program changes are possible at any time and cannot be influenced by the organizers. The resulting costs are borne by the traveler. We ask for your understanding.
