Mt. Meru as the most exciting peak in Tanzania and Kilimanjaro as the highest single peak on earth await you on this varied and challenging trekking tour.

To prepare for the heights of Kilimanjaro, we start our trip with the ascent of Mt. Meru (4,566 m). The second highest peak in Tanzania dominates the Arusha National Park with its huge cliffs and amazes its visitors. However, the technical requirements are higher on Mt. Meru than on the Machame Route on Kilimanjaro. The way to the summit leads through an enchanting rainforest, a huge heather zone and a constantly changing volcanic landscape. The summit is reached via a narrow, barren ridge that offers a breathtaking view of the Ash Cone and Kilimanjaro. After a day of rest in Arusha, we continue our trekking tour with the Machame route on Kilimanjaro. The six-day camping route, which offers a particularly varied landscape, will make our hearts beat faster every day. We move through grasslands, tropical rainforests, alpine meadows, moorland and an alpine desert to snow and ice until we have reached the highest point in Africa at 5,985 m.

This trekking tour is suitable for high mountain hikers who are experienced in high altitude, sure-footed and fit.

We only run tours with good acclimatization on Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru. This is the minimum number of days recommended by all international mountain associations, as well as our own assessment of mountain safety. You could climb Kilimanjaro in a few days, but experience shows that this leads to an increased risk of altitude sickness and a much lower success rate to the summit.

Lemosho Trekking Tour & Safari

The Lemosho Route is considered the most scenic route on Kilimanjaro and offers panoramic views of different sides of the mountain.

With 8 days of trekking it is one of the longest of our tours to climb the Kibo summit (5,895 m). On this route you approach the summit from deep down in the pristine, dense rainforest on the west side and cross the world heritage site of the Shira Plateau. Due to the ideal balance between a smaller number of hikers, beautiful scenery and a high success rate on the summit, the Lemosho route is our preferred route to Kibo (5,895 m). With good acclimatization, you will climb to the summit on the sixth day of the hike and make your way back via the Mweka route.

At the end of your trip, another highlight of Tanzania awaits you. We take you on a one day safari to the enchanting Tarangire National Park. Let yourself be enchanted by the diversity of the animal world and the unique flora.

If desired, this trip can be extended by further safari days or beach holidays.

Kilimanjaro Northern Circuit Trekking

The Northern Circuit Route is also known as the 360 Degree Route. It offers you the best Kilimanjaro experience in terms of routes and views of the mountain from all sides.
This 9-day trekking tour offers you excellent acclimatization and a breath-taking landscape with a view over the southern flanks, the western forests, the northern plains of the Kilimanjaro massif to the Kenyan border and its dry eastern slopes. It is the longest route on Kilimanjaro and leads the Lemosho route on the west side of the mountain up to the Shira plateau before it reaches the lava tower, then runs north, circling the main peaks in a clockwise direction to join the Rongai route. Because this route is comparatively more expensive and longer, the paths are significantly less traveled. The summit is climbed via the east side of the mountain, while the descent is made directly via the southern Mweka route.

This trip can be extended by further safari days or beach holidays.

The Marangu Route, also known as the “Coca-Cola Route”, is one of the most popular and well-known routes for climbing Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. It offers an alternative for trekkers who do not want to sleep in a tent, as comfortable huts with mattress beds and communal toilet facilities are available.

The route covers approximately 64 kilometers (round trip) and is characterized by its gentle climb up to Kibo Hut, making it one of the “easiest” routes. Nevertheless, summit day represents a significant challenge and requires good physical fitness and altitude adaptation. You will pass through different ecological zones, starting in the dense rainforest, rich in tropical vegetation and a variety of animal species, including monkeys and exotic birds. As the altitude increases, the landscape changes into heath and moorland with characteristic plants such as lobelia and senecia. These sections offer impressive views of the surrounding valleys and the summit of Kilimanjaro.
The final stage takes you through an alpine desert, a barren, rocky landscape, with the climb often taking place at night to witness the spectacular sunrise at the summit.
Experience at heights, sure-footedness and good endurance are prerequisites for participation.

We highly recommend adding a few days of safari to this trip. Tanzania should not be left without experiencing the impressive wildlife and breathtaking landscapes.

We start the hike at Mt. Meru, the heart of the Arusha National Park. The fertile volcanic slopes rise above the surrounding savannah and are home to a jungle that is home to various wild animals, including almost 400 species of birds, as well as monkeys and leopards. The ascent to Mt. Meru is the technically more difficult part of this tour and also serves as a good acclimatization.
We continue on Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world. Its lush tropical rainforests, the magical heather and extensive moor landscapes merge into a peculiar high-alpine desert zone, finally ending with the snow and the breath taking glaciers of the summit region and make this route so fascinating.

This trek has been put together for those who prefer to stay in huts rather than tents. Altitude experience, sure-footedness and fitness are prerequisites for participation.
